Part of the Long Walk Series, Kookaburra Nest, is printed on 100% cotton 11x17” rag hot press paper. The process of creating this image includes painting shapes and forms in gouache in my studio after long walks in my neighborhood. I enjoy paying attention to all the interesting shapes and forms in nature. Once I am done painting, I’ll scan in my work and begin processing it to create compositions with bold and energetic colors that capture the feeling of seeing these shapes in their natural setting. Kookaburra Nest is a little play on a funny name I give my girls when they are acting, well, like kookaburra’s. This is an homage to them and their silly sweet energy.
